From July 22 to August 4, 2026, I visited the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ASIAA) in Taiwan. It was a good chance to spend time with researchers, exchange ideas about galaxy clusters, and reconnect with friends and collaborators across Taipei and Hsinchu.

On July 22, I gave a seminar at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). I also visited David Hernandez, a former classmate from MIT who is now a faculty member at NTNU. It was great to catch up after many years and see his new academic home in Taipei.

On July 28, I visited Karen Yang and Alvina On at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU). Karen works on hydrodynamical simulations of merging clusters, which is particularly relevant to CHIPS1911+4455 and the possibility that it is a merging system. I had first met Alvina at EAYAM 2024, so it was lovely to meet again in Taiwan.

The next day, I gave an ASIAA colloquium on CHIPS1911+4455, titled “A Cooling Flow in a Merging Cluster.” For the rest of the visit, I worked from an ASIAA office and met many faculty members and postdocs. I was especially happy to see Nimas again after first meeting in Melbourne during my Swinburne visit, and to catch up with Pei-Cheng, whom I had also met at EAYAM 2024.

Many thanks to Klod Vijarnwannaluk for being such a generous host, introducing me to so many people and showing me around during my visit.
